Pay Per Sale Affiliate Programs - Still The Best Option For Advertisers?

by: Theo Swan

Pay per sale affiliate programs have been around since the beginning of the affiliate marketing business, and due to it's obvious fairness, it is still a popular commission model. The number of programs offering this commission model are plenty, far more than any other model available online.

The reasons for its popularity are many, but a big reason is advertisers full control over the margins. With any other commission mode, the advertiser needs to calculate the conversion ratio, number of sales and size of purchases very carefully to eliminate the risk of overpaying for clicks, leads or impressions. With the PPS model, advertisers know they will only pay a specific percentage of each sale, making every new affiliate - no matter how successful - will contribute to the revenue of the affiliate program.

Advertisers using other commission models stand a much greater risk of having a new affiliate join, only to see him send nothing but non-converting traffic, thus getting paid for nothing. PPC, PPL and PPM are also much more open for fraud, often in the form of auto-generated visitors (i.e. from a script) or other ways of generating impression, clicks or in some cases even leads. For newly started affiliate programs, showing limited cash flow, other commission models can prove hard in the beginning. Often it takes a while to get the ball rolling, and paying for anything but sales can cost a bit of money before you get some back. Be sure to calculate how long you can afford to pay for a certain amount of visitors if no one actually converts into a buying visitor.

There will of course be plenty of referred visitors who converts into sales, but there are no guarantees. If you where to use a PPS model, paying ONLY For sales, you would never have to pay a commission unless you are seeing a positive cash flow. This is true for the affiliate program as a whole, as well as on an individual affiliate level. They won't get paid until they actually makes a sale, thus making the advertiser money in the process.

Some affiliate programs offer a fixed commission instead of a percentage, and if the commission is the same on sales for different amounts, the percentage will differ from one sale to another. Try to find an approximate percentage of commission to calculate the expected revenue for each affiliate sale. Calculating the minimum and maximum revenue is important as well, in order to keep track of the revenue of the affiliate program and its commission model.

Affiliate Marketing Campaign

by: Strive Mazunga

Some business owners opt to start an affiliate marketing campaign as part of their overall marketing strategy. In most cases the affiliate marketing campaign is only a small portion of the overall marketing strategy but there are some business owners who opt to rely exclusively on this type of marketing. The main purpose of doing this is to save money while still achieving valuable advertising. However, once a business becomes more successful they should consider being more proactive and combining affiliate marketing with other types of Internet marketing such as placing banner ads and orchestrating an email marketing campaign. This article will take a look at what affiliate marketing is and will provide insight into why this is popular and how it can be used effectively.

An affiliate marketing campaign is essentially a situation where other website owners place ads for your business on their websites. These website owners are known as affiliates. It is important to understand how this type of marketing works. In general the affiliates are given code for your banner ad to place on their website and given the freedom to promote their own website as they see fit. In promoting their website they are also attracting attention to your website because of the banner ad directing visitors to your own website.

One of the most appealing elements of affiliate marketing is the affiliate is only compensated when he produces a desired result. This means the business owner is not obligated to pay the affiliate unless the affiliate is successful. Success may be defined as generating traffic to the website, resulting in a sale or even resulting in the Internet user registering on your website or filling out a survey. The compensation for affiliates is generally based on cost per click, cost per lead or cost per sale. Cost per click and cost per lead are usually paid in terms of a flat fee which is awarded to the affiliate each time an Internet user either simply clicks through the banner ad on his website or performs a specific action after clicking through the ad. Cost per sale may result in the affiliate being awarded a flat fee or a percentage of the sale depending on the agreement between the business owner and the affiliate.

The most effective use of affiliate marketing is to actively seek out affiliates with a proven track record of promoting the businesses which they support. Most affiliate programs are open to anyone with a website and it is not necessarily damaging to allow those who are not particularly knowledgeable about marketing to run your banner ad but it is far more worthwhile to seek out affiliates who are quite adept and generating website traffic to their own website. This is important because the more visitors they receive each month the more likely your website it to receive interest from visitors who click on the affiliates banner ad.

Another aspect of affiliate marketing which can contribute to success or failure is the design of your banner ads. It is important to remember affiliate marketing is viewed the same way other types of marketing are viewed and care should be taken to create banner ads which will be appealing to your target audience. This means everything from the colors of your ad to the size and style of the font should be carefully considered to create an appealing advertisement.

Creating Your Own Affiliate Business

by: John Farina

An excellent and rather simple way to start a business or add income flow to your existing business is to start an affiliate business. An affiliate business offers an individual the opportunity to become an affiliate, or business sales partner. An affiliate is paid a certain amount of money for either a click through from the partnering web site; a fixed amount for a lead generated by an ad on the affiliate's web site; or a percentage of a purchase made by a visitor as a result of a click through created by the affiliate.

There are two ways to successfully create your own affiliate business.

1. Creating an Affiliate Business Promoting Other Businesses

If you have a web site with a decent amount of traffic, and you have time on your hands to search out some great affiliate programs and continue to increase your web site traffic, then you might consider starting an affiliate business promoting other merchants. While this is not a get-rich-quick scheme by any means, it can, over time, generate a fair amount of income.

Promoting your chosen affiliate business partners can be a tedious process, and can become a bit tricky at times. While banner ads are often the preferred method of promotion by an affiliate business, choose an affiliate business that also works with you to provide text links and other forms of communications, such as enewsletters and email, to promote click throughs. Other promotion options that have proven successful for many affiliates include pop ups, which can work well, but are often blocked or closed even before they've loaded, as well as pop unders, which tend to show more success simply because when an internet user discovers them, they've already loaded and can be seen in detail before they're closed. This allows the viewer a short amount of time to consider clicking on the link to get more information.

While it is certainly possible to search for each affiliate business individually, and sign up for each one individually, a streamlined way that can become very successful is to work with a company such as OffersQuest.com, an affiliate business that works with many different affiliate partners. Companies such as this offer dozens of programs covering everything from shoes to ecommerce solutions, and can offer a variety of affiliate business advertising options, including both banners and text links.

Before signing on as an affiliate business partner, however, be sure to only consider links for products and services that promote and complement your current business and web site. For example, a site dedicated to home schooling information will not do well as a casino affiliate. On the other hand, a site dedicated to marketing and advertising may actually see improved web traffic and visitor stats from an affiliate business link related to an ecommerce merchant.

Another thing to keep in mind is that many search engines, including Yahoo!, may not allow your site into their listings if your site consists mostly of affiliate links. Too many affiliate links will litter your site, making it difficult to focus on your site's content and the true nature of your site as well, so choose only a small amount of select affiliate business partners in which to work. Focus on the success of those select affiliate businesses rather than many different affiliate business links.

2. Creating an Affiliate Business Promoting Your Own Business

If you're a web merchant and have a great product or service to promote, it's safe to consider implementing your own affiliate business by promoting affiliates to join on as your sales team. The steps involved in becoming an affiliate business will take time and even money, especially with choosing and installing affiliate tracking software, but can, in the long run, become a very profitable and viable business expansion. However, the most time consuming step in owning an affiliate business where you're promoting your own products or services is recruiting affiliates into your program.

A good way to promote your affiliate business program is through increasing your own web traffic. Consider reciprocal linking strategies with sites that complement your business or the nature of your business. Links to your site from a popular site not only increases the rate of visitors from that site, but is also a factor used by many of the world's most popular search engines when calculating rankings. There are software packages that can choose links for you, but because they're expensive, if you have the time to look yourself, choose that route instead.

Once you have an affiliate business team in place, be supportive of your team so that they can generate the sales that you need and desire. Offer a variety of web banners to choose for posting on their web sites, as well as text links and other advertising options that are easily accessible for your affiliates. Respond to their communications quickly. Pay them on time. Offer suggestions to help them increase their web site traffic, their click throughs, and ultimately, their commissions. By working closely with your affiliate business sales people, you'll bring them success in working with you - and in turn, will bring in increased sales for your business.

A wise merchant knows that good sales affiliates are rare, and treats them with respect, assisting them with resources and providing prompt commission payments. A wise affiliate knows that an affiliate business merchant wants quality promotion and sales performance for a minimal cost. With these two statements in mind, the only successful merchant and affiliate partnerships are struck when both parties understand these points and work hard at working together, resulting in profits for both parties.

Internet Marketers Gain New Advantage, Major Marketing Issues Solved by Resell Rights Garage

Author: Dan Jablons

Standard Internet Marketing, a leading provider of training and software tools, announced today the launch of Resell Rights Garage, a brand new website dedicated to help marketing resellers get their products on-line and to the public faster than was possible before.

“I’ve talked with internet marketers for many years, and most have the same problem. They get rights to resell e-books or software products, but they struggle with getting the products on-line,” said Founder and CEO Larry E. Hall. “Most people buy these rights in bundled packages, but then they sit on their hard drive. So the products that were supposed to make them money, end up costing them money. We have put together a great service to help new and old internet marketers get their products to the market place faster than ever before.”

Resell Rights Garage offers services where internet marketers can simply submit their products, and the site does the rest. This includes creating and hosting the sites, setting up marketing activities, auto responders, payment links, and more. Resell Rights Garage also offers marketers the ability to get educated in setting up their products, so that they can learn how to do it themselves.

“This is a significant change in the marketplace,” said Hall. “Internet marketers have always had to work too hard to get their products on the web, and if they were at all unsure of what to do technically, they either shut down or they paid someone a giant fee to do it for them. We figured out a way to help these internet marketers without charging them an arm and a leg.”

There is already a buzz in the market place. Many of the companies that sell resell rights have agreed to become affiliates for Resell Rights Garage. By becoming an affiliate, they can ensure that the products that they sell to marketers actually make profits, which will have them coming back for more.

The official launch date of the site is September 10th, 2007.

Affiliate Marketing: 3 Easy-to-do Steps to Help you Get Started

Affiliate marketing is said to be the agreement between an online business and an affiliate, in which the affiliate makes a payment for making sales, guides and clicks for the merchant's website.

Overcoming the Five Obstacles to Affiliate Success

Nearly every mass marketable product or service available online sports an Affiliate Program or MLM matrix to encourage small business people to sell those products or services to others.

For beginners in the online marketplace and even some pro's, these programs offer the best opportunity for earning substantial incomes to their participants.

Yet, despite the promise of Affiliate Programs and MLM's for making money online, fewer than 5% of all participants will ever be successful with them! Only one out of a hundred will ever earn more than $1000 per month from the programs!

There are several factors contributing to these dismal numbers:

1. Failure to try
2. Failure to learn
3. Building sales without any concern about building a network
4. Building a network without any concern for sales
5. Failure to duplicate

FAILURE TO TRY

Many people will argue this point. They argue that they tried and the program failed them. Yet, if you were to persist in your queries, most people's idea of trying is throwing a banner on their website or running one or two untested ads. Folks, that just does not cut it!

Being successful in an Affiliate Program, MLM program or anything else be it online or offline requires much more than a half-hearted, short-lived attempt at promoting a program.

FAILURE TO LEARN

Whatever endeavor is undertaken, success comes with knowledge. College is good at teaching folks the basics of hundreds of professions. Folks understand that in order to be a CPA, an attorney, a chemist, an engineer or any of a number of professions, they must learn a great deal of knowledge before they will be successful in the field.

Yet, the same people will come online and believe they can turn on the computer and already know everything there is to know about running a successful online business.

To be successful as an online marketer, it helps to at least become acquainted with web design, graphics design, copy writing, marketing research, promotion, advertising, customer service and many other areas. It also helps to know about areas specific to the Internet such as search engine optimization, web traffic patterns, direct email marketing, and networking with others.

As an online marketer, you should either have knowledge of these various disciplines or be prepared to hire on people who already possess these skills. Unless you have very deep pockets, you should be prepared to learn a few of these skills for yourself.

BUILDING SALES WITHOUT ANY CONCERN ABOUT BUILDING A NETWORK

The largest advantage of the Affiliate Program or MLM program is the ability to grow a network of affiliates underneath of you.

While you are able to sell a certain amount of products or services to the consumer, a team of people who can sell just as many products or services as you can, will add to your full income potential. Due to the nature of the Affiliate Program and the MLM program, you will earn a small percentage from the sales of all of the people in your network of sellers.

As an affiliate without a network, your potential earnings are limited by the number of products and services you can sell by yourself.

With the average Affiliate Program or MLM, the first tier of your network will generally net you a 10% to 20% cut of all of the products and services your first tier people sell. With only five sellers underneath of you on your first tier, you are at the minimum capable of doubling your monthly income.

BUILDING A NETWORK WITHOUT ANY CONCERN FOR SALES

The most devastating cause for failure is building a network of people whose sole focus is building a network of affiliates!

Folks, no matter the size of your network, be advised. No income can be earned until someone sells a product or service!

What good is a network of thousand marketers whose only concern is building a network and not selling the products and services which are required to earn commissions?

A thousand affiliates with no sales adds up to a whopping zero dollar check for you!

FAILURE TO DUPLICATE

The most important person in your network is YOU!

You begin by making an honest effort. You follow-up by building your knowledge base, continuing to learn always. You then focus on actually selling products and services. Always in the back of your mind, you are looking ahead to the day when you will begin building your network of affiliates.

The important thing to remember is that your network is always a mirror image of YOU and YOUR EFFORTS.

Duplication is the process of actually teaching someone else to do exactly as you do. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you are doing everything right, then those who look to you for guidance and leadership will be making a sincere effort, learning, selling products and services, then building their network, and leading their people to success, just as you are.

It is up to you and you alone to avoid the common pitfalls in Affiliate Programs and MLM's. It is up to you to do what it takes to succeed in making money online. It is up to you to develop the skills necessary for success and to lead your team by example.

Keep things simple and manageable. Focus your attention to doing what it takes to be successful in whatever program you take on. Then find five good people to lead in the development of their online business and truly DUPLICATE YOURSELF with each of these five people.

You have what it takes to join the 5% who are successful with Affiliate Programs and MLM programs. It is now time to get to work and make your dreams of online marketing success a reality.

Seven Ways to Set Yourself Apart From Other Affiliate Marketers

Okay so you've read (fill in the blank with internet guru's name here)'s book and decided that affiliate marketing is the way for you to earn some extra money online. I mean after all, all you have to do is plug in your name and run their ads and collect your commission check and ride off into the sunset, right? Not quite. With so many people promoting the exact same program as you, in the exact same ezines or on the exact same websites, you need some ways to distinguish yourself from the rest of the pack of affiliate marketers. Here are seven ways for you to do this.

1. Host Your Own Website.
I know I sound like a broken record, but it is absolutely essential for you to have your own website. For starters you can have a domain name that is easy to remember. I mean can you rememberhttp://www.areallylongaffiliatemarketersurl.com/?pid=123/r=4
(My apologies if that url actually belongs to someone, I just made it up on the spot for an illustration)? I didn't think so.

So if you can't remember it and it's your url, what makes you think your potential customer is going to remember it. Do you know what they are going to do? They are going to just chop off the stuff at the end and type in the main domain name and purchase the product from the main site. However if you have your own url, you could have a url likehttp://www.yourdomain.com which is much easier to remember and you can just point your visitors to your affiliate page in your website.

2. Write Your Own Ads
Email the owner of your affiliate program and ask if you can write your own ads. Most of the time they will not have a problem with this, but you need to check with them first. A lot of times when I publish my ezine, I have published the same ad two or three times and I wanted to email the advertisers and say if only you had used your own ad. People become immune to ads after a while and if they see the same ads over and over again, they may just skip over it altogether. Your objective is to get people to click on your link and if your wording is different they just might stop and read your ad and be curious enough to click through to your website.

3. Have some products of your own that are only available through your website.
Once you have your website going, it is important to have some products or services that your customers can't find at your affiliate site. You want your customers to keep coming to your site and the best way to do that is to have something on your site that they can't find on the affiliate site.

4. Cultivate your own list.
It's much easier to sell to people that you have already built a relationship with. That's one reason why it is important to build your own list. You may also be able to earn some money from your list in the form of advertising.

5. Buy the product you are marketing.
When you buy the product you are marketing, you can sell it better. You can tell the potential customer what a great experience you had with the product. This will make them interested enough to buy the product. You will also be able to provide support if necessary or write a tutorial on how to use the product that you are marketing.

6. Be totally honest
If you find out that the program you were promoting is a scam, stop promoting it and inform your readers about it. This will help you build credibility with your lists. We all make mistakes and admitting your mistake will boost your readers confidence in you.

7. Don't try to market everything you see.
With services such as clickbank, it is easy to become overwhelmed and try to market everything in the clickbank marketplace. That is not a good idea. It's better to focus on one market and market products that they would want. This is called niche marketing. The last thing you want to do is to bombard your subscribers with pitches for products. That is one surefire way to lose subscribers.

Affiliate marketing is definitely here to stay and it can become a great way to earn extra or even part time income. However, it won't happen overnight. Like everything else in life, you're going to have to put a lot of hard work into it. Good luck to you in your new venture.

Most people don’t know it, but headlines are the most important factor in any pay per click affiliate site. Headlines impact directly on how many clicks you will end up getting and what your earnings will be at the end of the day.

Pay Per Click Affiliates will spend hours adjusting their ads and researching the most valuable Adsense or Overture keywords. Then they will spend hours of the remaining time ensuring that they maximize on the traffic heading to their pay per click affiliate site. They will then proceed to take a few hurried seconds to decide on their headlines.

Big mistake. A change of headline can multiply the readership of an article, post or web page by a staggering 100 per cent or more. What this means is that it hardly matters what content you’ve had written or how good it is, if the headline does not do its’ job. The first job of a headline is to ensure that as many people as possible read your article. They will hardly have an opportunity to click on your ads if they never make it to the page. Once your visitors are at your pay per click affiliate site, your headlines are also what will decide whether you’ll hardly get any clicks or if you’ll get people clicking feverishly at your ads.

In fact the power of your headlines starts right from the search engine results page. It is fairly common to see sites that for example, rank 10th on a page receive many more visits than sites that ranks first on the same page, simply because of a more attractive headline. It’s all in the headline. Your pay per click affiliate earnings depends more on headlines than you could ever imagine.

Your Headline Should Only Pick Out People You Can Interest In Your Pay Per Click Affiliate Subject

Headlines that hardly get clicks, let alone enough readers are the general ones. There is little doubt that this is one of the most common mistakes made by pay per click affiliates when it comes to writing headlines. The tendency most people have is to write the sort of headline that will attract as many people as possible across as wide a spectrum as possible. Usually this effort to attract everybody ends up attracting nobody.

Instead your headlines should tightly focus on exactly the kind of people you know will be interested in the content provided. Pay per click affiliate programs makes this easier because of the importance of using keyword-rich articles. Still a great effort should be made to interest the target group you have in mind, as much as possible with your headline. Every effort should be made to narrow the focus of your headline as much as possible.

A clear sign that your headlines are too general is when you find that most of your visitors tend to spend only a few seconds at your pay per click affiliate site. This is a clear sign that they get there only to find that the content is not what they were looking for, the headline was somewhat misleading.

Your Content Provider Needs To Spend Lots of Time On His Pay Per Click Affiliate Headlines, Your Earnings Depend On Them

This is the reason why you or your low cost content provider should spend a lot of time on your pay per click affiliate site headlines. This writer usually writes out several headlines to the same article, before and after writing out the content. I will then go back and spend time adjusting and changing the headlines until I decided on the one headline that I feel will be the most effective. I usually do the same for my clients and also for my own pay per click affiliate articles.

Headlines Should Create More Hunger And More Pain Than The Pay Per Click Affiliate Article Can Satisfy

This is the most important pay per click affiliate headline secret. Just analyze for a minute the reason why somebody would want to click at your pay per click affiliate ad. It is the same reason that folks click on the same pay per click ads when they appear next to search engine results. They are usually seeking even more information than has been provided by the search engine.
So an effective strategy to use with articles is to create such a deep hunger for even more information on the part of your readers that they will feverishly click on your pay per click affiliate ads in search of it. All this starts with the headline of course.

I am not saying that you should provide only sketchy and inadequate information. If you do this, nobody will spend time at your site. Instead you should provide such valuable articles that have such precious insights that you create a hunger for more knowledge in your readers.

Your pay per click affiliate headlines should make readers aware of their “pain” or “headache” in the form of inadequate information. The more “pain” in which visitors to your site are in, the more clicks they will execute on the pay per click affiliate ads.

Adding Affiliate Marketing Graphics and Links to Your Site

Affiliate marketing is a booming industry, and practically every possible niche has a program to choose from. Many of these programs want you to believe that all is required to make money in affiliate marketing is to stick a banner on your site and the bucks will roll in. Although this may have been the case for some, and in the early years of affiliate marketing, now savvy affiliate marketers know that there are proven marketing tactics that should be utilized before seeing success.

Adding affiliate banners to your website. Most programs provide marketers with a variety of banners to use on websites and blogs. Keep in mind however, that very few of these graphics will prove effective. If you choose to use affiliate marketing banners on your site, remember to select banners or buttons that will not degrade the appearance of your website, or annoy your visitors. Graphics should complement your site, and even though banner ads are intended to stand out and catch visitor's eyes, they shouldn't be so flashy that everything else on the page is completely ignored.

Using pop ups and unders. A lot of companies will now give their affiliates the choice of using pop up or pop under ads on their sites. Most people will agree that using pop ups as an advertising method is not the best way to go. They can easily aggravate visitors and are usually closed before they fully load on the page anyway. If you opt for using this type of advertising method, then go for pop unders and those types that only display once per visit rather than pop ups. Most people nowadays have popup blockers installed on their computers, so your ad most likely will not even be seen.

Text link ads are a successful advertising method. Choosing text link ads to use in your affiliate marketing advertising is by far one of the best ways to go. They are easy on bandwidth, don't use a lot of space, and are easily implemented into most types of page layouts. Good text links offer some information as to why your visitor should investigate your offers. You should always include in the wording of your link some action that the visitor should take that also informs them of the benefits of the product or service.

Email advertising still works. In previous decades, the most successful proven advertising method was direct sales via postal mail. Nowadays, direct mail via email is proving once again to be one of the best ways for affiliate marketers to reach their target market and achieve success. Although creating an influx of spam, there are now rules and laws in place that tell marketers what they can and cannot do in relation to email marketing, and as long as these laws are followed, email marketing is a great way to make repeat sales and build a customer base. If you plan to use email as a method of advertising your products, you should stand behind what you sell and always be available to answer any questions.

Just as with any business, affiliate marketing advertising takes time, patience and tracking. Regardless of what method you use, give the marketing some time before opting to change. Do not put all of your advertising money or plans into one basket or form as well. Use several types of marketing and expand upon what is working well for you. Success in affiliate marketing does not come overnight, but with careful planning and marketing, you can build passive wealth or supplement your current income.

Is it Worth Buying Affiliate Software?

Author: Li Ming Wong

Many of us dream of giving up our jobs and working for ourselves. Being your own boss can provide the responsibility level you want as well as the incentive to perform well. Running your own business usually mean lots of hard work but the rewards can be quite tremendous.

When it comes to starting a business, many people get scared. They worry about loosing that security that their job has provided. They also worry about the risk involved in starting your own business. The risk is worth considering being that anywhere from 70-90 % of all small businesses fail in the first year.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to work for yourself with minimal risk. When you work as an affiliate you usually sell a range of goods or services for profit. You will still have to work very hard to promote your business; however the financial risk to you is extremely low.

Many who have started their affiliate marketing businesses wonder about affiliate Software. They wonder if it is worth purchasing and what it can do for their particular business. The answer to theses questions lies entirely in the individual affiliate and the type of business that they have. However, there are some general things to try and consider before you shell out hundreds of dollars on affiliate software.

Before buying any software program, you need to apply some perspective. Software will not take a floundering company and get it into fortune 500. It is simply a tool to help you in various aspects of running a business. You will still have to do all of the hard work. The software will only help.

Once you have some perspective, then you need to list your companies needs. How are you at keeping accounts? Could you do better with software? Many people do purchase software to manage accounts for them. Especially when their businesses start to take off. Chances are you can do just as good of a job on your own but software will make it go much faster. You must keep in mind however, that software does take time to learn. However, once you have mastered it accounting software can help you keep track of your incoming money and outgoing at a much faster rate than if you were to do it yourself.

If you have a home based affiliate marketing business that is entirely internet based, you may want to consider website building software. Again, you may be able to do just as good of a job on your own. However, if you can’t this software can help. It will offer suggestions on how to make your pages more attractive and how to attract more internet traffic to your site. This can all translate into more sales or Ad revenue for you.

You should never purchase any software without previewing it first. This way you can tell if this particular style of software is what you need. Most places will give you a free trail, if not find someone who will. You could also find free software that you can download from the internet. It takes little time to put this onto your computer. It is certainly worth at least trying the free software. It doesn’t cost anything and could save you money if it does what you need it to do. If it doesn’t then you can always have it removed and purchase what you need.

If you have a knack for sales or marketing then perhaps you should consider the world of home based affiliate marketing programs. You can put your creativity, skills and expertise to work for you rather than someone who doesn’t appreciate them. When your business starts to pick up, you may want to consider the purchase of some affiliate software. It can help you manage your accounts and increase your website traffic. You could find it for free online or get a free trail from a software company. What ever you decide, remember keep some perspective of what it can do. Software is only a tool it won’t work miracles.

Many think it sounds easy. Certain aspects of affiliate marketing make it very attractive but it isn’t easy at all. There are steps and loads of advice you should follow before plunging head first into and affiliate marketing scheme.

The first thing you should do before committing to an affiliate marketing scheme is to evaluate your skills and expertise. How motivated are you? How many hours are you willing to put in? What business skills do you already have and what skills do you need? Even though the risk is minimal, you want to make the most of the venture. You will need some business and sales skills. Pitfalls to Avoid When Starting your Affiliate Marketing Business

Author: Li Ming Wong

Well, you have left that awful job and now are working for yourself. You have jumped on board your new venture which is affiliate marketing. You’re incredibly excited and are working all the hours God sends to make this venture a success. You checking up and monitoring your site and you see that sales are going quite well. Many of the strategies and things that you put in place have helped your affiliate company sell quite a bit. The end of the month finally arrives and you’re waiting for that first large payment. When you check your account you are slightly disappointed. You did make some money but according to your calculations you should have had more. You check your sales figures again and decide to contact the company. They inform you that some of the items sold were returned so those had to be deducted from your commission.

This is disappointing but it does happen. Companies do not pay out commission on returned goods. You need to be aware of this to avoid fall into further pitfalls. No one would expect to be paid a commission on a returned item however; some less than honest affiliate marketing companies can use this to scam some of your profits. You need to make sure you understand their return policy and how it will affect the amount that you are paid.

A return occurs of course when a customer brings an item back. Charge backs can also happen when they dispute an amount on a credit card. Be sure you keep a close watch on which items are being chargeback or returned. See if there are any patterns that are obvious. If you notice that the orders that are charged back are always very high ticket orders then they could be giving you false information. They are doing this to keep you commission down and keep some for themselves. Keep a close eye on returns especially if you think it is happening a little too often.

Charge backs are also indicative of another more serious problem. If you notice that many of these charge backs are happening during an initial trial period, or the money back guarantee time, then there could be further problems. This is a sign that the product or service that you are promoting isn’t up to customer satisfaction. It could be misleading or just poor quality. However, it will effect your commission and your future as an affiliate marketer. If this seems like it is happening a little too often then again, there are problems somewhere in the company. Look to get out and make alternative arrangements.

You also need to be aware of which items are actually commissionable. Make sure you understand which products you will be earning money from to avoid disappointment later. Sometimes the company will offer a selection of products to put on your site, however only certain items may be commissionable. Before agreeing to anything like this checks your terms and conditions carefully.

Finally, you also need to make sure that items that are sold don’t have any other conditions attached. Some will only pay a commission if the customer fills in the payment details immediately. If they select an item and continue to shop, you may not receive any commission on that item. You can also loose commission if the customer clicks on any other links before completing the order. If they order 30 of an item you promoting but click on something else then you have lost out on quite a large amount of commission.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to earn money. However, before jumping in head first you need to read your terms and conditions carefully. It may be worth having an attorney look them over for you. You need to be aware of the many pitfall people fall into when they go into affiliate marketing. Read and understand your terms to avoid disappointment later.

Tips for a Successful Affiliate Marketing Business

Author: Li Ming Wong

Now that you have decided to take the plunge and set up a business for yourself, you need to insure that you do all of the right things. Affiliate marketing businesses do take the risk away but you still need to conduct this venture as you would any other business. If it is your sole source of income you’ll want to give it your all and make it as successful as possible. In this article, we will look at ways to get your business going and make it successful. By following the advice in this article your affiliate marketing business will get off to a great start and stay that way.

The first golden rule of any business is to identify the demand. With affiliate marketing programs you’ll likely be giving a range of products to sell. Check out the demand of these types of things. You should try to stay away from trendy items. They’ll sell like mad one minute but you’ll be giving them away the next. You want thing that you know people want and need. That way your long term sales objectives will get met.

Next is don’t limit yourself to just one product. Try to offer a variety of things. Many affiliate marketing programs offer a selection and it is best to go with these. Basing your business on one product may work in the short term. However, someone will eventually come along with something better or cheaper.

Third, you need to set your business apart from others. You need to establish what makes you and what you offer better from others. What do you offer that sets you apart from other businesses? You should always use tact when talking about your competition. Putting them down or being rude will only backfire on you. Talk up the advantages that you offer and leave it at that.

Forth, you should definitely insure your home business. Everything can be fine one day but life can always take a funny turn. Accidents can happen to anyone. Ask yourself what will happen if one of your products hurts someone. Today, people can be sued for just about anything. Make sure you are insured incase the worst happens.

Fifth, you should always do your best to ensure fast and efficient service to your clients. However, there will come a time when there is a glitch. You need to keep your customers informed and aware of what is happening. Things happen that are beyond your control. Most customers are very forgiving if they are made aware of this. Keeping your customers in the dark could result in loosing them for good.

Finally, keep your customers happy. The happier they are the more likely they are to come back. Offer your customers incentives such as savings on their next purchase. It may cost you more but only in the short term. Keeping your customers happy will result is them referring you to others.

Affiliate marketing businesses are easier in the fact that they minimize risk. Everything else is like any other business. You need to work very hard to keep your customers happy. You need to set yourself apart from others and protect yourself against the worst. By following the advice in this article you will be giving your business the best possible chance for success.

Easy 5 Step Technique to Develop Your Own Ebook – It’s Easier Than You Think

By Jo Mark

I’ve written numerous articles on how to generate income by writing articles. To maximize the amount of money you can make, you need to develop and market your own product. The easiest product for an article writer to design is an ebook.

For many people, writing their own ebook along with all the details it involves can be a large intimidating project. First of all, you’ve got to write it. To do it well, you’ve got to promote it with emails and articles. If you are going to promote it using email, you need a sign-in (squeeze) page. And on and on. Uhhh!

Don’t despair; things are not quite as bad as you think. Take a step back and break the project up into small, bite-sized bits. Write down each item separately. Then take each small segment and focus on that until you complete it. The steps to complete your project might be as follows:

1) Write your ebook.
2) Marketing – Develop a five step email course.
3) Create a Squeeze page.
4) Create a sales/order page.
5) Write and submit articles linking to your squeeze page and email course.

Okay, we’ve completed our list. Let’s start from the beginning with the ebook.

1) This item sounds like the largest and most intimidating part of the project. If you can get through this, the rest will seem easy. The average ebook contains twenty-five to fifty double-spaced pages of information. This represents twelve to twenty-five single spaced pages. If you write articles consistently, you have probably noticed that your articles each run about one full page. Therefore, your ebook will be the equivalent of writing twelve to twenty-five individual articles. Now it doesn’t seem so intimidating. Outline your ebook into twelve to twenty-five separate chapters. This will also be you table of contents. Each day write one or two chapters/articles until you’ve completed it. That turned out to be pretty easy.

2) Write five separate emails each providing several facts that are related to your ebook. At the conclusion of each email, include a link to your order page. Upload these five emails to your autoresponder so that they are sent out when people sign in on your squeeze page.

3) Create a squeeze page. If you’ve been writing articles (or reading my work) for a while, you’ve probably already got a squeeze page. In that case, copy the one you have and devote the new one exclusively to the email series you set up. If you don’t have a squeeze page, there are thousands of articles written on the subject. You can also check with your autoresponder, they will usually provide you with information in this area. Make sure you create persuasive copy that compels your visitor to sign up for your five-step email course that is linked to your autoresponder.

4) Create a sales/order page. Create a page that introduces and recommends your ebook. Make sure it contains plenty of benefits as well as features. People are interested in features but they buy benefits. Make sure you include a PayPal button or some other shopping cart link to order the book.

5) Begin writing and submitting articles related to the information provided in your ebook. Make sure you provide links to you squeeze page (and occasionally directly to your sales page). Submit one of these articles to forty or fifty everyday or every other day. Do not submit all of your articles at once.

You’ve done it! You completed your ebook project and you are on your way to the big bucks. Use this method whenever you are confronted with large intimidating projects and your article income will grow by leaps and bounds.

The Two Sides of Affiliate Networks

By aisha danna

Almost everybody involved in e-business and online marketing is aware of the concept of affiliate marketing. It has proved to be one of the most powerful tools of Internet marketing and has managed to earn a fairly good reputation as a marketing instrument that has been effective in diverting quality traffic and improving page ranks. It does not require much investment, because it basically involves marketing products produced by others. The immense popularity and growth of affiliate marketing has led to the inception of affiliate networks.

These networks act as a link between the merchants and the affiliates. Along with providing a choice to the merchants as well as the affiliates, such networks also offer a number of affiliate programmes for affiliates to choose from. Despite the popularity and success of these networks, some merchants still are wary about the credibility of the networks and the deals and other services provided by them. They prefer dealing with the advertiser directly, rather than through a third party.

Like all other things, even these networks have their own advantages and disadvantages from the point of view of the merchant. Being a part of these networks provide a lot of assistance and convenience to the merchant. He has easy access to a number of prospective affiliates who are willing to take up his programme. Merchants are saved from the trouble of going out and looking for affiliates. Monitoring the progress of the affiliate programme also becomes easy and the entire campaign becomes simpler and manageable.

The other side of such networks can be that the overall cost of the merchant gets escalated and he is not able to maximise profits, since he has to pay the affiliate network as well as the affiliate. Apart from this, not all networks behave responsibly and track sales and leads generated from the affiliate programme.

The final choice to choose one of these networks as a medium to promote one's affiliate programme ultimately depends upon the merchant. He has to decide what works best for him and his website. Even if he chooses to use the services of these networks, he should be extremely careful and should gain thorough knowledge about the network's track record and credibility.

If you want to learn more about this service visit ePurple Media, an affiliate marketing company offering their services globally.

Aisha Danna works for ePurple Media, a comprehensive online affiliate network. Fast and Easy Methods to Quickly Grow Your List

By Jo Mark

If you are serious about making money on the Internet, you’ve got to have a list. A responsive, well maintained list is an important part of your long-term success. A good list can double the amount of income that you generate over time. For that reason, it is extremely important that you develop a good list and maximize the number of viewers that participate.

In order to do this, you need a good opt-in page. Your opt-in page is a web page where your visitors will sign-in to your list. The better your sign-in page, the higher your opt-in percentages.

It is important that you have a single page on your site devoted exclusively to generating subscribers. Do not post ads or banners of any kind on this page. You do not want to distract viewers. Your only goal is to entice them to join your list of subscribers.

Offer plenty of reasons for them to subscribe. Sell them. Provide your incentives in large bullet points. Use color for your most attractive enticements, but do not over power the page with color. Your primary font color should be the traditional black. Don’t use teal or some other non-traditional color for your primary font color. Use no more than 3 colors on the page, including black and white.

Entice viewers to sign up. Give them something free. Offer them a free report, information, ecourse, download, or Ebook. Whatever you decide, make sure you give them something for free. It is almost a requirement now that you give your subscribers something for signing up.

Your opt-in box should have a place of prominence. Do not hide it on the side; proudly display it at the top or middle of the page! It should be visible as soon as visitors enter your site without having to page up or down. Down not hide it among a jumble of other items, allow it to stand out on its own.

Lastly, add a simple pop-up box on every page of your website. This is really important. Many people that navigate through your site are not subscribers. If they see things that they like, they will frequently want to join your list. By offering a pop-up on every page, you give them that opportunity. When I added the pop-up, my opt-in numbers doubled.

By instituting the techniques above, you can maximize the number of subscribers on your list and increase the amount of money you generate.

The Secrets for Creating the Ultimate Affiliate Marketing Website

Author: Russell Brunson

"The cool thing about internet marketing is that it is a cinch to sign up for the top affiliate marketing programs. However, the skill that is required to promote products via affiliate marketing frequently eludes people. The goal of this article is to show you how to create the perfect affiliate marketing website that promotes your product to buy the product in the most persuasive way possible.

The first thing you need on your affiliate marketing website is a compelling headline. This is the first thing that people will see when they land on your website, and you literally want your headline to stop them dead in their tracks and encourage them to keep reading your affiliate marketing website. Writing a headline for your affiliate marketing website is beyond the scope of this article, but for great examples of headlines, study the works of copywriters John Carlton, Michel Fortin, Kevin Hill, Dan Kennedy, and Gary Halbert. They are the best copywriters on the planet and know how to write attention grabbing headlines. Search for their works online and use their examples to create your own attention-grabbing headline you can place on your affiliate marketing website.

The next thing you need to do for your affiliate marketing website is maintain your prospect’s interest. This is done by agitating the problem they are trying to solve or tell a compelling story to which your prospect can relate. The only way you can maintain attention of your prospect on your affiliate marketing website is to study their wants and desires. If you don’t do basic research on your prospect, your affiliate marketing website will just collect digital dust on the internet.

How long does your affiliate marketing website have to be? There is not set rule. One famous copywriter one said an affiliate marketing website should be like a woman’s skirt: short enough to be interesting, but long enough to cover everything. Imagine selling your affiliate product to your best friend—what words would you use? This will give you an idea on how long the copy of your affiliate marketing website should be.

Should you put graphics on your affiliate marketing website? Good question. In some niches, graphics increase response, and in others, it decreases. Look at what other affiliate marketing websites look like in your niche and see what graphics they use.

Finally, you need to have a strong call to action on your affiliate marketing website. What do you want the prospect to do? Obviously, you want the prospect to go from your affiliate embarking website to the “money page” where the actual product is sold so you can get a commission.

It is a sad truth that most affiliates don’t make enough affiliate commissions to pay the monthly utilities bill. With these basic hints of how to build a converting affiliate marketing website, you’ll be way ahead of your competition.

To discover how to create converting affiliate marketing websites from one of affiliate marketing masters, go get this free video."

The Easiest Way to Build your Affiliate Program

Author: Maria Victoria Condecion
There are some myths in affiliate marketing, which attract a lot of people to it believing they are true. First is they think managing an online business is easy and second, they think that one can make a fortune through online marketing in an instant. Probably not even 10% of those who are into affiliate marketing became rich overnight. There may be some who fortunately achieved overwhelming success in just a short span of time after setting up an affiliate program, but not a majority of them can confidently say they only had luck. Anyone who is successful in this kind of business would say he worked hard to get to where he is right now. Success in affiliate marketing takes time and hard work, but it’s worth it.

If you are planning to start an affiliate program, one of the things you have to consider is having your own website, not just an ordinary website but a professional looking one. How do you build an affiliate marketing website? What are the easy steps to build one? First, you must have already decided on the theme or niche of your website. It would be better if you already have an idea what products or services to promote as this would help you plan the design and lay-out of your web pages. The next thing to do is to choose a domain name and get it hosted. The domain name is a unique name used to label the actual address of your website on the Internet. In deciding what domain name to register, look into the type of products you are endorsing and the theme of your site. Having the right keywords in your domain name would give you better chances of drawing more visitors to your website. Also, choose a top level domain or extension, such as .com because it is more popular. In selecting your web host, consider the security of servers and up time guarantees.

Now, you can start creating your webpages. Don’t be disheartened when you know a little in this field. There are page generation tools and fast launch sites available online; you just have to search for them. Countless online sources could help you build an affiliate marketing website, though you might need time to study and learn the whole process. This is one of the reasons why your site or the products you are going to promote must match your interest. Building your marketing website for the first time would be a lot more fun if you know very well the theme of your site. If you don’t have time to make your own website, you can use templates or purchase readily available websites. The latter, however, is a more expensive option.

Creating an affiliate website on your own would be cheaper and more interesting. In the process of building your website, you may also increase your knowledge in Information Technology and the use of computers, softwares and the Internet. As you educate yourself in these fields, you are increasing your advantage against other affiliate marketers. It helps a lot, though, if you already know the basics in web page development like programming languages and graphics softwares because you can make your site extra corporate-looking, more convenient to use or easier to navigate. Furthermore, if you are knowledgeable and skillful in this area, you can already concentrate more on the content of the page rather than the design.

The key to draw visitors to your website is to have high quality content; thus, the next thing you must pay attention to in building your marketing website is this. There may be several other factors that contribute to the success of your affiliate marketing site, but a good content tops the list. This is precisely the reason why users choose to enter your site. They want to get information and so when they don’t find it, they would definitely go elsewhere. Write interesting articles related to your theme as this would make them frequent your site. If you have already looked for affiliate programs that complement your site, add links to the business sites and other very good informative sites. Links contribute to how well you will be listed in major search engines as well. Also, create pages for the products you are endorsing, but don’t just promote the products by putting hyped-up ads. Keep your readers interested by injecting lots of relevant and useful information. This would make them click the link to the business site and buy the product. Remember that no good content means no frequent visitors, no sales and ultimately, no commission.

Make your site simple yet not without a touch of class in order to make it appear more of a business website rather than a personal website. This would be pleasing to the eyes and more interesting to browse. To help you with the design, you can check some successful online stores to get an idea on how you can make your site look better. Make sure you don’t place too many banner ads since these could distract some site users; and thus, instead of clicking your ad, they might just leave your site and look for other interesting websites. After all, banner ads are not the only means of advertising your products. Now your website is complete, submit its URL to major search engines to increase your traffic.

Grow from where you started. Learn about use of keywords for search engine optimization and apply them in your content. Update your site regularly or add new webpages. Make sure to inform your prospects about the latest updates in your site. You can use newsletters to accomplish this. The Internet offers a huge source of information about just anything, make use of it. Continue to educate yourself on how to improve your website and soon you’ll find yourself successful in affiliate marketing. You may go check the site Making You Richer to learn more on how to become successful with affiliate programs.

Having your own domain name and website is essential for a successful affiliate marketing business. It allows you to collect information from your visitors and follow up with them later on.

5) Recommend, not selling

The most important affiliate marketing tips of all is to understand the difference between recommendation and selling. In affiliate marketing, you should only recommend the product and send your visitors to the merchant site. Recommend the product from your customer point of view. This will allow you to build a good relationship with your visitors. Do not attempt to sell to your visitors. Leave the selling to the merchant.

Guidelines to Follow When Choosing a Profitable Affiliate Program

Author: Terry Detty

When it comes to choosing an affiliate program, do you know what to look for you? If this is your first time joining an affiliate program, you are urged to keep on reading. Below are some guidelines that you may want to think about following.

Perhaps, the most important thing that you need to remember, when choosing an affiliate program, is to not pick the first affiliate program that you come across. This is a big mistake that many affiliate program participants make. Unfortunately for you, this can be a costly mistake. What many do not realize is that the product you choose to promote will reflect on you and your business. That is why it is important that you take the time to thoroughly examine an affiliate program first. You will want to choose an affiliate program that involves a product that you can stand behind, one hundred percent.

One of the best ways to know that you are dealing with a legitimate affiliate program and a quality product is to test that product out. Although you are advised to do this, you may not want to or you may be unable to do so. If that is the case, you can still research an affiliate program or even the product that is being sold. You can easily do this online. One of the best ways to do your research is to perform a standard internet search. Search with the name of the affiliate program or the product being sold. You can also check out websites that are known as scam websites. These websites tend to profile companies, individuals, or business opportunities that regularly scam consumers.

Before applying for or signing up for an affiliate program, you are advised to read all of the rules, restrictions, or guidelines associated with that affiliate program. Unfortunately, you may find yourself disqualified from an affiliate program right off the bat. For instance, there are a large number of affiliate programs that prohibit their products from being advertised on websites that display pornography, foul language, and other offensive content. Familiarizing yourself with an affiliate program’s rules and guidelines will prevent you from being denied from a program or later dismissed from one.

Perhaps, one of the most important things to remember, when choosing an affiliate program, is the product that you will have to sell. In conjunction with making sure that the product is a quality one, you will also want to make sure that it is related to your website or business, in one way or another. For instance, if your own website focuses on computer programming, you will not want to join an affiliate program that sells pet products. Joining an affiliate program that is related, in one way or another, to your own website may increase your chances of making a sale; thus increasing your profits.

Although it is important to choose a quality product to stand behind, you also need to remember that your goal is to make money. One of the easiest ways to make a substantial amount of money is to choose an affiliate program that pays their affiliates decently. The average commission for affiliates is three to five percent of each sale made. While this is a good percentage to make, there are higher paying affiliate programs. You may want to look for affiliate programs that pay around ten percent. In fact, there are even a select number of affiliate programs that pay around fifteen percent in commissions.

The above mentioned guidelines are just a few of the many that you will want to take into consideration, when choosing an affiliate program. Although the above mentioned points are helpful, the most important thing to keep in mind is your judgment. Using your best judgment is the easiest way to choose an effective affiliate program.

If carefully chosen, you could easily make a full-time living just with affiliate programs.
